Start Your Build NowWhy the PVS-14 is Different
The PVS-14 is not just another night vision device—it's the most widely fielded monocular in history, trusted by operators on the battlefield and by other serious users on their ranches. This device combines military grade reliability and civilian accessibility.
The Soldier's Choice
When failure is not an option, the PVS-14 is the unit issued to those going in harm's way. Over 25 years of combat refinement means every design decision has been stress-tested in ways that cannot be imagined. The result? Autogating minimizes muzzle flashes. Manual gain preserves your natural night vision. A housing that won't crack when your helmet hits the deck.
The Professional's Tool
Law enforcement, SAR, and border patrol choose the PVS-14 because it just works. No learning curve—the same interface as military NVGs. Helmet mounting frees up your hands for the job at hand. Rail mount it for no-light low-light engagement. Reconfigure it for surveillance. It's all in a night's work for the PVS-14. 'One platform, infinite applications.'
The Civilian's Edge
You don't need to wear a uniform to demand professional capability. Hunters navigate pre-dawn and track after dark (local laws permitting). Ranchers monitor vast perimeters and vulnerable livestock. Outdoor enthusiasts explore backcountry trails. The PVS-14 is a complete lack of compromise in a world seemingly built by it. Some say this is overkill for civilians—and that's precisely why you bought it.
Safer on the Water
The water is an unforgiving place and visible light only travels so far. When you are on the bridge of your Sanlorenzo SX88, the last thing you want to do is allision with a deadhead. Greatly diminish the likelihood of having to check if your insurance is as good as you hope, and give yourself the peace of mind that knowing what goes bump in the night can provide.
One Device, Many Applications
What makes the PVS-14 truly unique is that the same device is exactly the one you need if you're a soldier, a Texas Ranger, a search and rescue volunteer, a cattle rancher, or a yacht owner. The military issues a PVS-14 that is identical in terms of form/fit/function to the one you can buy from us, and depending on the image intensifier you choose, yours can perform as well as any other. After that, you just decide how you want to use your PVS-14 and we will help you fill in those blanks. At Adams Industries, Inc. we pride ourselves on the over 30 years we have educating customer about their options and helping them implement their choices.

Frequently Asked Questions — PVS-14
How much does a PVS-14 cost?
Builds start at $2,995 with an Elbit Gen 3 thin-film white phosphor tube (FOM 1600–2000). Top-tier L3 Harris Supergain builds reach $6,648+. Price depends on the tube you choose — everything is built to order. Contact us for current availability.
What is Omni 7 vs Omni 8?
US military Omnibus Night Vision contract performance tiers. Omni 7: minimum FOM ~1600. Omni 8: minimum FOM ~1800+, tighter cosmetic and performance floors — the current gold standard used by tier-1 units. Adams Industries stocks both tiers by availability.
What is white phosphor vs green phosphor?
Green phosphor produces the classic NVG glow. White phosphor produces a grayscale image — users report better contrast recognition and easier target discrimination. The US military has largely transitioned to white phosphor. White phosphor is the default at Adams Industries; green is available on request.
What is the difference between Elbit and L3 Harris tubes?
Both are genuine Gen 3 made in the United States. Elbit Systems of America (Roanoke, VA) produces the thin-film and filmless gated tubes. L3 Harris (Rochester, NY) makes the filmless Supergain line. At equivalent FOM, performance is comparable. The tube's documented FOM, SNR, and center resolution matter more than the manufacturer label.
Can civilians legally buy a PVS-14?
Yes — for domestic use. Night vision is ITAR-controlled (Category XII): no export without a State Department license, no sale to foreign nationals. Legal for US citizens and permanent residents. Adams Industries verifies US person status on every sale.
PVS-14 vs PVS-7 — what should I buy?
The PVS-7 is a biocular (two eyepieces, one tube) from the 1990s — bulkier, no helmet mount options. The PVS-14 is a monocular that mounts to a helmet, rail, or works handheld. More versatile, lighter, current standard-issue. For most applications, the PVS-14 is the right answer. Adams carries both — see the PVS-7 →
